About Quantail

Specialist judgement, supported by structured analysis.

Techno-economic analysis of non-firm grid connections.

A first-of-kind, tech-enabled advisory and analytics business. Founded to close the gap that kept appearing across infrastructure investment: technical grid information, however thorough, was rarely translated into the assumptions and judgements that capital decisions actually turn on.

Quantail means quantifying the tail: originally curtailment risk, now the wider economics of constrained grid access.

Why I built Quantail

The gap was not in the data. It was in the joined-up interpretation.

Across multiple project and corporate transactions, the question was rarely whether grid risk was material. It obviously was. The question was whether the available analysis answered it in the form a capital decision actually needs.

What I was looking for, and could not find joined up, was a single capability that could:

That stack existed in fragments. Never together, traceable, decision-ready. Quantail provides it.

Henry Easterbrook, Founder.

Quantail is built from direct experience developing, financing, selling and scrutinising grid-connected assets. Not from observing them at arm's length.

What makes Quantail different

Senior expertise, fused with a proprietary engine.

Most grid-risk work is done by hand, in Excel, project by project. Quantail’s engine processes the full GB connection queue, runs queue reconstruction across thousands of projects, tests build-out probability, and translates the result into a financial answer. Weeks of work, compressed into hours where the evidence base is available.

That is the moat. Specialist judgement applied where it matters, on top of a software-driven analytical layer. Applied to a problem that is structurally getting bigger as the GB grid fills up and as connection reform reshapes the queue. The methodology travels: where local network operators publish in CIM-compatible formats, the same approach applies.

How Quantail works

Specialist judgement, supported by structured analysis.

Senior judgement from a single, accountable adviser. Purpose-built workflows that turn public grid data into a usable, comparable view. Commercial framing: constraint, curtailment, queue and reinforcement dynamics rendered in the language of investment decisions.

Software and structured analysis make the throughput possible. They don’t make the judgement. The aim is not to produce more grid data, it is to make existing evidence investable.
